Mission, Vision and Values
Mission
To provide innovative housing opportunities for independent individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (I/DD) who desire to live in an inclusive apartment community among their peers with all of the rights and responsibilities that are afforded to other adults.
Vision
Our community centered apartment complex will have accessibility to public transportation, employment opportunities, and leisure that will provide a living environment where residents can thrive. Our Wellness program will create a space where residents can socialize, learn, engage in physical activity and enhance their well-being and quality of life.
Values
- Individuals with I/DD need housing in appropriately sized community-centered spaces along with possibilities for socialization and inclusion. They deserve respect and dignity, including a living environment where they can not only live but can thrive.
- Health and wellness will be an important part of life at Universal Possibilities. Whole-person wellness is more than just physical activity. It is a combination of socialization, education, nutrition, along with physical activity that will enhance the residents’ well-being and quality of life.
- Socializing is good for the mind and body. People who spend a lot of time alone have an increased risk of depression and lower quality of life. Socializing not only staves off feelings of loneliness, but it also helps sharpen memory and cognitive skills, increases one’s sense of happiness and well-being, and may help individuals to live longer.
